Regular bath is a must
for pet dogs to maintain their shiny coat and healthy skin. Moreover, the bad
odor of the skin should be eliminated and the dog must be free from itching and
other types of irritations. Natural shampoos are ideal for cleaning the skin of
dogs. Shampoos that contain various synthetic ingredients are harmful and will
be allergic to the skin. Hence shampoos made of natural ingredients are now
very popular. However many pet owners feel that the natural shampoos that are
available at the stores are too expensive and are not affordable for regular
use. Preparing homemade dog shampoo
is the best solution to this problem. The shampoos for the pet dog can be easily
made at home using purely natural ingredients that are easily available and are
very cheap. By way of providing regular bath to the pet dog using homemade dog shampoo the dog’s skin is
well protected and the dog is free from bacteria and pests. There will be no
side effects since the shampoo is purely natural and the dog owner need not
spend a healthy amount of the shampoo.
Dry shampoo
It is very easy to
prepare two types of homemade dog
shampoo – dry shampoo and wet shampoo. It is advisable to apply the dry
shampoo prior to applying the wet shampoo. Raw oats are to be powdered using a
food processor or a coffee grinder. The powdered oats are to be mixed with
baking soda. The mixture is to be poured on the dog’s skin and rubbed using the
hand or a brush. The dry shampoo may remain on the dog’s skin for a few minutes
so that the bacteria and all the pests will be eliminated. As a result the bad
odor of the fur will be neutralized and the dog will be free from itching.
Wet shampoo
In order to make the
wet homemade dog shampoo the oatmeal
powder is to be mixed with equal quantity of lukewarm water. The paste can be
applied directly into the coat of the dog and ensure that it reaches the
surface of the skin. After 5 minutes the shampoo can be rinsed out. The coat of
the dog may be wiped gently using a soft towel to make it dry. By way of using homemade dog shampoo in this method the
dog’s skin will remain shiny as well as healthy and there will be no bad smell.
The dog also will be comfortable with no itching or any other type of skin irritation.
Aloe Vera gel as dog
shampoo
There are other recipes
also for making inexpensive homemade dog
shampoo. Aloe Vera gel is diluted with water and the mixture is directly
applied to the fur of the pet dog. In order to create lather a little quantity
of baby shampoo also can be added. Finally the coat may be rinsed thoroughly
using warm water. This is an effective method for the elimination of pests and
bacteria and provides relief for the dog from itching.
Dog shampoo for dry
skin
This is an easy recipe
for homemade dog shampoo that is
ideal for dry skin. 1.5 cups of corn meal, 1 box of corn starch and 10 drops of
Tea Tree Oil are mixed thoroughly and applied to the dog’s skin. Leave it for 5
minutes and then the shampoo can be rinsed out. Instead of tea tree oil any
other essential oil like lemon oil, lavender oil or rosemary oil can be used.
