Homemade Dog Shampoo – the best solution to keep the dog’s coat healthy, shiny and fresh


Regular bath is a must for pet dogs to maintain their shiny coat and healthy skin. Dry shampoo

It is very easy to prepare two types of homemade dog shampoo – dry shampoo and wet shampoo. It is advisable to apply the dry shampoo prior to applying the wet shampoo. Raw oats are to be powdered using a food processor or a coffee grinder. The powdered oats are to be mixed with baking soda. The mixture is to be poured on the dog’s skin and rubbed using the hand or a brush. The dry shampoo may remain on the dog’s skin for a few minutes so that the bacteria and all the pests will be eliminated. As a result the bad odor of the fur will be neutralized and the dog will be free from itching.

Wet shampoo

In order to make the wet homemade dog shampoo the oatmeal powder is to be mixed with equal quantity of lukewarm water. The paste can be applied directly into the coat of the dog and ensure that it reaches the surface of the skin. After 5 minutes the shampoo can be rinsed out. The coat of the dog may be wiped gently using a soft towel to make it dry. By way of using homemade dog shampoo in this method the dog’s skin will remain shiny as well as healthy and there will be no bad smell. The dog also will be comfortable with no itching or any other type of skin irritation.

Aloe Vera gel as dog shampoo

There are other recipes also for making inexpensive homemade dog shampoo. Aloe Vera gel is diluted with water and the mixture is directly applied to the fur of the pet dog. In order to create lather a little quantity of baby shampoo also can be added. Finally the coat may be rinsed thoroughly using warm water. This is an effective method for the elimination of pests and bacteria and provides relief for the dog from itching.

Dog shampoo for dry skin


This is an easy recipe for homemade dog shampoo that is ideal for dry skin. 1.5 cups of corn meal, 1 box of corn starch and 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil are mixed thoroughly and applied to the dog’s skin. Leave it for 5 minutes and then the shampoo can be rinsed out. Instead of tea tree oil any other essential oil like lemon oil, lavender oil or rosemary oil can be used.
