Homemade dog shampoo – for safety, lasting effect and economy

Homemade dog shampoo is prepared using only natural ingredients. By preparing the shampoo at home it can be made cost-effective since generally the natural shampoos used for dogs are quite expensive. The ingredients that are used for making this type of shampoo are mild substances and are not harmful. The shampoo not only moisturizes the dog’s skin but also restores the natural oil of the skin. As a result of regular cleaning of the fur using the Natural shampoo prepared at home the dog remains healthy and looks fresh. It will also add a pleasant odor to the dog’s skin. Since the dog’s skin is very sensitive some of the ingredients present in the commercial shampoos for dogs may cause itching and other types of negative effects. The presence of various chemicals like PEG, SLS, SLES, Paraben etc. may cause skin irritation, damage to the eye and other side effects. Homemade dog shampoo offers the best solution to provide purely natural, safe and healthy bath for the dogs.
The 4 basic ingredients

The best quality homemade dog shampoo is prepared using the following ingredients-
  •      Vinegar
  •    Vegetable glycerin
  •      Castile soap
  •      Essential oils

Both white vinegar and apple cider vinegar are purely natural products with excellent antibacterial as well as deodorant properties. Vinegar imparts shining appearance of the dog’s fur. Vegetable glycerin is the best natural product to moisturize the skin of the dog. The removal of natural oil from the dog’s skin is effectively prevented by glycerin and it maintains the skin clean healthy and soft. Glycerin is available in medical shops, soap industry as well as baking industry. Castile soap is a 100% natural soap that is made from olive oil. It is a mild soap with moisturizing characteristic. Castile shop either in liquid form or in solid form is mixed with the other ingredients to prepare all-natural homemade dog shampoo. When the shampoo is mixed with a few drops of an essential oil like lavender, rose oil, orange oil etc. it will have an aroma and after the bath the dog will feel refreshed and also will smell fresh.

Adjust the pH
The dogs as well as the ingredients in the shampoo have varying pH levels. Those who make homemade dog shampoo have to make its pH level between 6 and 8.5. When the pH level is too low the shampoo will be more acidic in nature and it will lead to irritation of the skin. The ingredients with a pH level around 7 are the most ideal for making the shampoo. While too much of acidity in the shampoo is harmful the rather alkaline shampoo is safe. While adding the various ingredients to make the shampoo adequate care must be taken to balance the alkaline ingredients with acidic ingredients in a neutral base like water.

The easiest preparation

Homemade dog shampoo can be prepared in the easiest way by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and a good quality liquid antibacterial soap in a container and shaking the mixture well. This shampoo produces thick lather and thoroughly cleans the fur. It ensures complete removal of all the dirt and parasites and the dog gets relief from itching and other irritations. This homemade dog shampoo can be applied just like any other dog shampoo and its effect is long lasting.
